Gifts Rwanda ("we", "us", "our") operates the online marketplace and gift delivery service available at giftsrwanda.com (the "Service"). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account. When vendors sign in with a phone number, we collect that phone number to send a one-time verification code.
- Order information. When you place an order we collect delivery details such as the recipient's name, phone number, delivery address, and any gift message you write.
- Payment confirmation. Payments are made through mobile money directly to vendors. If you upload a payment confirmation (such as a screenshot), we store it to verify your order. We never collect or store card numbers or mobile money PINs.
- Vendor information. If you apply to sell on Gifts Rwanda, we collect your business name, contact details, and the product information you list.
- Usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used (pages visited, device type, approximate location). This uses cookies and similar technologies.
2. How we use Google user data
If you sign in with Google, we use the name, email address, and profile picture we receive only to create and operate your Gifts Rwanda account: identifying you when you sign in, showing your name in the app, associating orders with your account, and contacting you about your orders. We do not sell Google user data, do not use it for advertising, and do not share it with third parties except as needed to operate the Service as described in this policy. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
3. How we use your information
- To process, prepare, and deliver your orders.
- To contact you about your order, including by phone or WhatsApp.
- To operate vendor accounts and pay-outs.
- To prevent fraud and keep the Service secure.
- To improve the Service based on aggregated usage patterns.
4. When we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Vendors and delivery agents — the details they need to prepare and deliver an order (recipient name, phone number, delivery address, gift message).
- Service providers that host and run the platform, such as cloud hosting, image storage, and analytics providers. They process data on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Authorities when required by law.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
5. Data retention and security
We keep your account and order information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access to personal information is limited to the people who need it to operate the Service.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and associated data by contacting us (see below).
- You can revoke Gifts Rwanda's access to your Google account at any time in your Google Account permissions.
- You can disable cookies in your browser; parts of the Service may still work without them.
7. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
